Founder
John Hawks is a pioneer in translating the scientific research on social networks into a commercial application across many markets. He founded Community Analytics in 2004 in order to extend his knowledge and experience of social networking across various industry sectors.
Prior to Community Analytics, Mr. Hawks founded COMSORT in 1989. Working with leading researchers, COMSORT built a series of interactive workshops to transfer knowledge and skills from the research community to practicing physicians. In 1994 he initiated a deep study of Diffusion of Innovation and Social Network Analysis literature and began to experiment with data collection techniques and systems to analyze the data. He determined that physicians operate within a very structured environment of interrelatedness and that innovations follow the paths of advice-seeking and trust.
In 2001 Merck made a significant investment in COMSORT, which allowed the company to initiate an extensive study of physician interrelatedness. After two years of collecting data and applying the new information nationally and internationally, Merck purchased COMSORT.
